During these long, strenuous winter months while the animals were hibernating, our brains were supposedly doing the same. Luckily, as summer approaches, the North Shore News has taken the initiative to refresh our minds on how to properly take out the trash. I have listed a few of the helpful rules and tips listed in the North Shore News along with some helpful illustrations to go along with them on how to take out the trash.

1) “Do recycle items that are included in the North Shore Recycling Program’s guidelines. Crews will leave behind anything that’s not part of the program and if it does make it into the truck, it only adds to the processing fees paid to process the materials, which costs all of us.”

2) “Do ensure your set-out is within the limits.”

3) “Do set your garbage, recycling and yard trimmings out before 7:30 a.m. on your collection day.”

Oh my – I love it: I will amuse myself when walking the dog on garbage day by concocting dramatic narratives about my nuclear neighbours and toxic terrorism!
