How Unfortunate
When I started my Remix Project, I decided I would find a humorous article on the North Shore News website and add my own twist to it, as I don’t get the actual paper delivered to me. However, upon searching through the website, I did not find any; rather, I found maybe 15 or less actual news-related articles. Each click leads me to another advertisement, another website that had nothing to do with news. Nothing at all. Dating? Who needs a dating website linked from a news website? House hunting, cars, shopping, golf. Bloody golf. Where is the real news? Is there any? Or is this website solely based on profit, like the entire industry? Frankly, I shouldn’t even be surprised. News just is not profitable, I suppose. But hey! People like to hear about how The Style Guys, Justin and Ryan are going to handle this season of their show. I know I’m infatuated with “new garden design” and ads that take up my entire screen.

This is today’s “news.” Highlighted at the top, in red, are the links mentioned above, that lead to completely different websites which have little to nothing to do with news. And lower, the “features” are links to other magazines. “Look,” about fashion. “Rev,” one lone article about cars. “Viewpoint,” I assume is their attempt at government coverage.
Perhaps it was a slow news-day. Perhaps it is just poor website layout. Or perhaps this is what news actually is, and I’ve been lead to think otherwise. Unfortunately, nothing provides me with a good “remix,” and little to nothing provides the community with actual news coverage.
